Event Details

Mind Walks are sensory performances consisting of guided walking tours, visualisations and workshops with volunteer participants to facilitate intuitive interactions between the participant(s), the artist/facilitator, architectural locations, psychological states and artistic material prompts. The participants are often blindfolded to remove the sense of sight allowing a visual-blank-space for their imagination. Through sight deprivation participants have an opportunity to experience their other senses in a heightened state – sound, touch, smell – explore their environment from an altered perspective and access their imagination. The Mind Walk projects Elyssa has undertaken and facilitated to date explore dissociative experiences and psychological spaces which are portrayed metaphorically through distorted architectural forms. The Mind Walk processes, performances and artworks invite the viewer to question the perception and psychology of place: How do people create place – how are we created by the places we occupy? How do physical and imaginary places shape our minds? If you are 16 years of age and over, you are welcome participate in Elyssa’s latest series of experiments. Come along at anytime during the two days of Mind Walks and discover what your body knows (but may have forgotten).
