Libby Mewing

I am a Sydney and Jervis Bay based abstractionist painter who prefers to use intuitive, spontaneous and loose techniques in my work. Colour, shape, line and texture are always to be found in my paintings although a moody grey is sometimes lurking beneath. My work evolves more by means of a conversation between me and the surface, be it canvas or paper rather than inspiration from an object or landscape. I have trained in Sydney and France and I am currently a member of three galleries in Sydney. My work has been sold both overseas and Australia. I have solo exhibitions twice a year as well as exposure online. I share the view that, 'The true purpose of art is to evoke rather than portray,' (unknown).
