Wil Edwards Franchimon

The urgency for environmental repair is my focus. On recently completing a Bachelor of Creative Arts at the University of Wollongong I have developed a passion for steel sculpture to impart the strength and determination now required to overcome the environmental challenges of the 21st century. I am presently creating my 'Birds Eye View' series which includes figurative bird forms to reflect the superior perception of global deforestation and pollution by the bird on the wing. Ground-dwelling humans blindly ignore this reality to justify our everyday wastefulness. While my goal is to create large sculptures for outdoor exhibition, I have found that the smaller works, suited to gallery display, allow more rapid development of concepts and skills, while planning larger long-term projects. I am now seeking the support of both local and Sydney based galleries and outdoor exhibitions.
