2020. Oil on canvas. 130cm x 60cm framed. Location: Erowal Bay NSW 2540. Cicadas, grasshoppers, and the early Saturday morning roar of the neighbour’s lawn mower! The frenzied, chaotic destruction of life under the lawn mower is something that we do not really ever think about as we never get a glimpse of the turmoil beneath these thrashing industrial steel blades. ‘Cutting Grass’ has enabled me to give form to the world under the mower. It is also an analogy for decline in mental health; severe anxiety and stress. We need to be mindful that at some stage we all may experience life under the lawn mower but, with faith, it will pass and the grass will grow again.
